Venado Caves Tours
The amazing Venado caves were formed during the Miocene period, 15 or 20 million years ago. For many years they were under sea level and due to tectonic movements, they surfaced.
The Guatuzos aborigines discovered them. Limestone rocks, stalactites, stalagmites and corals, form most of the caves. The whimsical stone formations are formed by the underground river.
The length of the Venado tour is 1 1/2 hour, during this time we will find marine fossils, bats, spiders, crickets and other interesting insects.
Because we will have to walk through the river and waterfalls from the upper part of the Venado cave, we recommend our customers to take light clothes, hiking shoes and extra clothes to be able to change when they finish the exploration of the caves.

We pick you up at your hotel at 8: 00 a.m. for the one-hour transfer to the Venado Village. We bring you back at your hotel at 1h pm. We also offer a tour at 1h pm, returning at 6h30 pm.
Price is $55 per person from La Fortuna ( the village near the Volcano ), $47 if staying at Arenal Paraiso, Los Lagos, Montana de Fuego or Tabacon Resort, $55 Arenal Lodge, $60 Observatory Lodge (price vary according to the distance between the hotel and La Fortuna). Half price for kids under 12, free if under 6.
